Laura Mercier vs Bareminerals

How To Choose the  Best Tinted Moisturiser

Tinted moisturiser is my best friend when working from home.

It makes sure you don’t look like you’ve just rolled out of bed if you get an unexpected Teams call.

But allows your skin to breathe without caking it in make up.

I chose two of the top best-sellers and compared them to see which one you should invest in…

Laura Mercier Oil Free Tinted Moisturiser

With naturally oily skin myself, where make up can easily slip off, I thought an oil-free tinted moisturiser might be the way forward.

Laura Mercier claims to control shine and last on your skin all day.

It’s a big claim with my oily skin!

Let’s see how it performs….

I chose shade 4W1 TAWNY

It’s a fairly warm shade…

However if you’ve been here a while you’ll know I like a tanned look!

It’s Bright & Light

I was a bit worried I’d chosen a shade too dark when I initially applied.

However it blended beautifully!

(I used the Hourglass Foundation Brush to blend – the best investment you will ever make FYI)

Finished Look with Laura Mercier

I added some bronzer (Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Bronzer) to give me some definition.

And some Benefit Dandelion Highlighter to the top of my cheekbones.

And was pleasantly surprised at the natural, but dewy and fresh look I had.

9 Hours Later…

It Really Has The Staying Power…

Much to my surprise, this tinted moisturiser really did last all day.

I’d been out to London for lunch, had a walk and travelled home on an hour train journey.

And the Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser held on for the ride!

MASSIVE brownie points!

How does bareMinerals compare?

bareMinerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Moisturiser

This SPF infused tinted moisturiser promises sheer to light coverage across your skin.

“Uplifting the skin with a fresh, dewy glow”

Let’s see what it can do…

I went for shade Natural Pecan 05.

It’s a little bit lighter then the shade I went for in Laura Mercier.

But let’s see what the finish is like.

It’s OK….

I wouldn’t say I was impressed much with this one.

The dewy finish is lacking.

It has a light coverage across your skin, yes.

But I wouldn’t say it’s massively ‘uplifting’ or ‘glowing.’

It’s nice enough to whack on before a teams call at home or if you’re just popping to the shops.

It’s moisturising and has SPF.

Is it worth £33?

Probably not.

It is currently on offer on Look Fantastic for £26, so significantly cheaper than Laura Mercier if you were looking for more budget friendly.

However when it’s back to full price, I would definitely go for the Laura Mercier one.
