La Mer vs Shiseido

The Best Luxury Face Cream?

Two VERY expensive moisturisers.

Both promising to revolutionise your skin…

And get rid of all wrinkles.

(Yes please)

But how do you know which one is for you?

If you’re looking to indulge but not sure which moisturiser is for your skin type…

La Mer Moisturising Cream

This is the brand that always catches my attention when walking through a department store.

The stunning green and white bottles.

The extra large white tub on display…

Gagging for you to buy it.

But the price tag is enough to put anyone off.

I managed to find this 15ml tub for £85

(Click here to shop on LookFantastic)

It’s not cheap, but it’s a whole lot better then £400 for a 100ml tub.

If you’ve been wanting to try La Mer, this is a good place to start.

Is it worth it?

First Impressions – It’s Super Thick

You really have to work it into your skin.

You can feel the goodness with the thickness of the cream.

It leaves a nice matte base for your make up.

However there’s quite a chemical smell.

Maybe this is the sacrifice you have to make if you want super goodness on your skin.

But I was looking for a luxurious experience from start to finish.

And this includes a smell of it.

How does Shiesdo compare?

Who Is Shiseido?

This is a brand that I tend to walk past in the department store.

It doesn’t pull me in as much as La Mer does.

But after some extensive research on quality skincare brands.

Shiesdo actually ranks quite well.

The smallest size you can get is 50ml which costs £375.

Is it worth it?

First Impressions – It’s Less Thick

More of a serum-y texture.

In a good way.

It goes on my skin a lot nicer.

And feels a lot more luxury.

And most importantly, it doesn’t smell like you’re applying deep heat to your face.

Let’s Compare Ingredients

La Mer: From the Sea

La Mer was created by a Dr in California, after he suffered burns to his skin.

He noticed how healing seaweed was, so he spent 12 years creating La Mer with elements found in the sea.

Mainly Giant Kelp.

He then created his patented ‘Miracle Broth’.

Which helped heal his skin from the burns.

Due to it’s skin renewing properties.

Pretty cool huh?

Japan: The Home of Skincare

Shiseido was founded by a Japanese pharmacist, as Japan’s first Western-style cosmetic.

“Based on the dream of bringing health, beauty, and happiness

Filled with Sansho & Green Tea Extract which boosts skin defences and protects against oxidative stress.

 So Shiseido prevents wrinkles/skin damage.

La Mer fixes wrinkles/burns/scars.

The Winner?

Ok so this one is really down to what your skincare goals are.

If you have any acne scars, or wrinkles – anything where you want your skin to hurry along with the cell renewale –

La Mer’s Giant Kelp is going to transform your skin.

Personally, (and luckily) I’m still young enough where I’m not at that stage.

And a good quality moisturiser to prevent these things is what I need.

I also prefer the dewier texture of Shiseido.
