The Best Luxury Gradual Tan

Achieving a beautiful tan is worth it’s weight in gold.

So simple yet so hard to get right?

⊗ Patchy ⊗

⊗ Orange ⊗

⊗ Biscuit Smell ⊗

The list goes on.

Gradual tanners are the perfect way to get a tan without all the above.

So I scouted out two luxury gradual tanners in Selfridges and put them to the test…

Vita Liberata Gradual Tanning Lotion

Most gradual tanners I have tried recently have had a little instant glow in them.

So I was keen to try an untinted one for a change!

Infused with aloe vera and hyaluronic acid to promote a natural-looking glow.

Hyaluronic acid – we’ve all heard that before.

That means super hydrating.

Let’s see what the tan looks like….

Day 1

So this is without any tan on…

(I have a bit of a natural tan from the hot summer we’ve had here in the UK!)

Once I’d rubbed this into my chest and arms…

I use the remaining tan that’s left on my hands to rub into my face.

Tip for your hands: I rub the tan into my hands as if it’s moisturiser, and then wet the inside of my hands in the sink and rub a towel between them.

Ensuring the back of your hands still get a gorgeous natural glow!

Straight After Application

It Looked Like Moisturiser!

As described, there was no tint.

I didn’t look muddy!

And more importantly…

NO BISCUIT SMELL

I Repeat: No Biscuit Smell!

No stickiness – no nothing.

Will it actually give me a tan?

After 24 hours

A Gorgeous Glow

I wasn’t expecting much of a tan, as it looked like I hadn’t applied anything all day!

But this tan gives a stunning brown colour the next day.

I was really impressed with the tan on my face too.

So flawless and natural looking.

Let’s see what a second application looks like…

After 2nd Application

Another 24 hours later, a deep, stunning bronze

I’ve never been so impressed with a gradual tan.

It tops every fake tan I’ve ever used.

So much easier and cleaner than the ones you wash off.

And you get an even better finish.

Is Tan-Luxe Better?

Tan-Luxe was recommended to me when I worked in Harrods as the high-end, gradual tanner.

‘The Butter‘ is infused with a hella’ lot of nourishing ingredients.

Hence the space for it in the Harrods Beauty hall.

Vitamin E, Raspberry Seed Oil, Oat Oil and Coconut Oil, combined with Cocoa Butter and Shea Butter to provide luxurious hydration.

But what does the tan look like?

(I tried this tan earlier this year when I was 6 months pregnant!)

Straight After Application

An Instant Glow

Unlike Vita Liberata, Tan-Luxe gives an immediate glow once applied.

It has a bit more of a greasy look.

But I would assume this is due to the hydrating aspect Tan-Luxe has.

Let’s see what it looks like when it’s had time to develop…

Day 2

A Natural Glow

A really lovely glow on day 2.

Natural and a nice shade of brown.

Not an orange pigment in sight!

Let’s see what another layer looks like…

Straight After 2nd Application

A very moisturised, illuminating look.

This would be the perfect shade for me, so it’s amazing you can achieve this is jut two days with a gradual tanner!

Let’s see what it looks like after time to develop…

Day 3

A Deeper Natural Glow

On day 3, with two layers of the Tan-Luxe on, I have a really nice natural looking tan.

It’s super moisturising.

And didn’t go patchy AT ALL when it was wearing off a few days later.

The Winner?

My go-to will be the Vita Liberata.

Mainly for the better tan it gave on my face after just one application.

I also LOVE the non smelling aspect.

It’s the first and only tan I have found that feels like you have nothing on.

However there is a space for TAN-LUXE in my bathroom…

As on the days I have forgotten to put any tan on and need an instant glow…

Tan-Luxe will sort me out last minute.
